Privacy Policy

FreeAIDetector checks images and videos without keeping them. Here is what happens to your data.

Last updated October 22, 2026

In short

  • Images and videos are never stored. Deep scans are processed in memory and discarded.
  • Video files are opened in your browser: a video file is never uploaded; only a few sampled frames are sent for analysis.
  • No account, and no advertising or tracking cookies. Visits are counted with Plausible, which uses no cookies.
  • IP addresses are used only for rate limiting, and the counters expire within 24 hours.

What happens to your images

  • In your browser. Metadata reading and pixel analysis run on your device. If the file carries a clear AI marker, the check ends there and the image is never uploaded.
  • Deep scans. Otherwise the image is sent over HTTPS to our analysis server, where a vision model scores it. The file is processed in memory and discarded when the scan finishes. It is not written to disk, stored in a database or used to train models.
  • Result cache. So that repeat checks are instant, the server keeps a SHA-256 fingerprint of the file and its result in memory for up to 24 hours. A fingerprint can't be turned back into the image.
  • Image links. When you paste an image URL, our server downloads that image for you and passes it to your browser. It isn't stored.

What happens to your videos

  • Sampled in your browser. Your full video file is never uploaded. Code running in your browser samples keyframe images across the video timeline using local canvas APIs.
  • Frame analysis. Only the sampled keyframes are sent over HTTPS to our analysis server, where the vision model scores each frame. Frames are processed in memory and discarded immediately after scoring.
  • Result cache. Keyframe fingerprints and results may be cached in memory for up to 24 hours to make repeat checks instant.

Abuse prevention

To keep the service free, we limit how many checks one visitor can run. The server counts requests per IP address in memory; the counters expire within 24 hours and aren't written to logs. Each visit also gets a short-lived session token, tied to your IP address and browser, that expires on its own.

Cookies and analytics

We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't sell or share personal data.

We count page visits with Plausible, an analytics service that doesn't use cookies. Its script is loaded from p.aipo.st. We do not track custom events, individual user actions, or what you paste, upload or open. We use no other analytics or tracking service.

Service providers

Plausible, which counts visits as described above, receives the address of the page you visit, where you came from and basic browser details, and sets no cookies.

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses to serve and protect it.
